Stranmillis House, Belfast

Project Overview

Stranmillis House is Grade B1 Listed. The building, situated on the campus of Stranmillis University College Belfast, was designed by Lanyon and Lyon and dates back to 1857-1858. It was built as a Jacobean style mansion with decorative stonework parapets and carved stonework panels.

Description of works

This historic building required a new external entrance ramp situated at the front of the building which is a focal point of the University campus.

Works completed included;

• Complete new external entrance ramp which involved new moulded copings and string course sections.
• Construction of a new moulded sandstone entrance.
• Relocation of the front steps to allow the skilful integration of the new ramp into the front elevation composition.
